Spravato offers a different approach
Oral antidepressants may not work for everyone. SPRAVATO® is not a pill you have to take every day. It is an FDA-approved nasal spray, taken under the supervision of healthcare providers. Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine if SPRAVATO® should be taken with or without an oral antidepressant.

What is Spravato?
SPRAVATO® is a prescription medicine used:
-
with or without an antidepressant taken by mouth, to treat adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD)
-
with an antidepressant taken by mouth, to treat depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) accompanied by suicidal thoughts or actions
Nasal spray you self-administer under the supervision of a healthcare provider. SPRAVATO® can be taken with or without an oral antidepressant.
Greater reduction of depressive symptoms at four weeks (compared to those who received a placebo and oral antidepressant).
SPRAVATO® is believed to work differently from traditional antidepressants by acting on glutamate.
In a long-term
maintenance-of-effect trial, patients who continued SPRAVATO® treatment were less likely to experience a return of depressive symptoms (known as relapse) compared to those who stopped therapy.
